Alkaline Recipe Spinach & Beetroot

In addition to being highly alkaline, this tasty salad is loaded with plenty of beneficial vitamins and nutrients.

Spinach: This leafy green is high in vitamins C, B2, E and K. It’s also a great source of iron, magnesium and potassium. Spinach is considered to be very alkaline. Although most sources slightly differ, it’s generally listed as being somewhere between 6.0 – 6.5 on the pH scale

Beetroot: This root vegetable is rich in vitamins C and E as well as minerals like calcium and iron. Beets are also known to be anti-inflammatory and to help lower one’s blood pressure.

Tofu: This soya food is abundant in essential amino acids and has antioxidant effects. It contains vital nutrients like zinc, magnesium and vitamin B1. Tofu is also an excellent source of protein.

  • 1 cup of beetroot, cut into thin pieces
  • 1 cup of spinach, (small leaves)
  • 1⁄2 cup of tofu pieces
  • 1⁄2 tbsp of pepper powder
  • 1⁄2 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 tbsp of roasted pine nut
  • Sea salt to taste
  1. In a bowl, mix all of the ingredients except pine nut.
  2. Now, add the pine nut on top.
  3.  Serve fresh.
